Yup sounds like a starter gear to me I had a starter that would do that due to harmonic vibration at the right load and rpm you would hear It tick against the ring gear.

Yep i confirmed its the bendix and weak/broken spring. I cleaned it up and lubed it which helped a little.

Has anyone installed a new bendix kit? I saw i can get this for $35 starter is only 4 years old and is in good working order.
