So my reply took longer than anticipated. The amp I purchaced on Ebay turned out to be another broken e1400DM. Now I am more convinced that this particular amp seems to have issues. So I returned to the seller and spent the big money on a JL Audio XD600/1 marine amp. Hooked it up last night and used Daves suggestion to run the LP switch at 12dB and around 95 Hz on the LP frequency.

I was very skeptical about this amp when I took it out of the package, because it barely weighs anything and is very compact. But when I turned it on and adjusted, my skepticism was completely erased. WOW! What a difference a few years in technology makes. Clean bass response from this unit. Very impressed to say the least. Now, I can only hope that it lasts longer than the older units. Thanks Dave for the excellent replacement recommendation.
