How to determine the shaft size on the boat

Hello, I have a 1996 mastercraft pro star 190. I was to determine the size of the shaft that runs from the transmission down to the prop. I read on the transmission name plate it says 1-1. I was told by a mastercraft mechanic that is how you know the size of the shaft without measuring it. The mechanic never did tell me the size and I was just wondering if anyone knew what it was?

Thanks in advance

If you have a 1:1 transmission then you have a 1" shaft. If you have a 1.52:1 transmission (Powerslot) than you have a 1-1/8" shaft.

And on a complete frigging side note. G-Money was my nickname in HS Volleyball 30 years ago. Thanks for reminding me, had totally forgotten that.

This is true on your 1996 190 and all boats with tapered shafts. At a certain point, I believe with the implementation of splined shafts, all of them are 1.125". Someone please correct me if I have that wrong.
