how tight should ballast pump cover be

How tight should my Jabco pump covers be on? I had the black Impeller previous and always had a issue of either to loose and leaked or too tight and impeller wouldn't move. Haven't installed the green yet but I'm hoping to eliminate this issue. Are the green impellers much more forgiving on a snug cover?

Change the impellers, lub the o ring and tighten them hand tight. You wont have the issues that you've had in the past with black impellers.
