Hi!
I'm new here, finally installed tower to my 1995 Maristar 200vrs.
This is Hydrowake t-rex tower from ebay and it's unsteady without reinforcements, had to reinforce it with extra pipe.

Looks like we will go with the New Dimension tower for our 2007 Maristar 230. Any pro's out there that installed the tower themselves? I'm a bit squeamish about drilling holes in our baby, but it would save the $1,000 the local dealer would charge, and that is huge to us. Open to advice!

I did my own tower. Turned out great. Measure 10x, drill once.

Jeff d--sound advice! Was it tricky getting behind the seat cushions to put the backing plates/nuts on? Thanks much,
Steve D

Long arms and tough skin. No real trick that I'm aware of, you just have to reach up there and contort yourself as needed.

Also, get a grinding stone that's larger than the holes you're drilling and after drilling your holes run it in there to chamfer the gelcoat away from the hole. This will prevent cracking of the gelcoat by not allowing the bolt itself to touch the gelcoat, only fiberglass. I got a set like this at Harbor Freight:

I think I used the second one from the left in my drill. Just run it until you see a 1/16" or so of fiberglass around the perimeter of the hole.

I also backed up the fender washers with larger (approximately 4"x6") pieces of HDPE cutting board. It flexes some and conforms to the backside of the hull. I'm on my 3rd season with my tower and no cracks in the gel or anything.

This seemed like a good place to post a pic of my 'new-to-me' 225 VRS. It's a '95 with LT1 power. I'm newly registered in the forum, but gained tons of info about various boats I looked at from it. Thanks to TeamTalk for helping me find the right one. By the way, anyone recognize what kind of tower this is? Not critical info, but in case anyone can identify, I would appreciate it!

Tower

Congrats on the new boat. The tower looks like the Zero Flex that was oem on the early Xstar.
