April 28, 2014 Update: Pole barn is done!
After Friday's rain delay, the crew arrived at 7am this morning to finish my pole barn and were all done by 11am.
So, here it is. Only thing left to do is add some fill, garage doors and a concrete floor but those are all going to wait a bit. |

What was that, built in 1.5 days? Or did I miss a day?
Looks nice!!

Let's call it 14 hours!
Day 1: Layout started at 7am with holes drilled by 8:30am. Materials were delivered, separated and layed out by 10am. Since inspector was not due until late afternoon, the guys left only to return at 11:30 to meet the inspector and re-start again by noon. Day 1 ended with all framing complete at 4pm (7 hours total) Day 2: Crew arrived at 7am and roof was on by 8:30am when the rain began. They put in the windows and door and some trim and then left by 10am due to rain. (3 hours total) Day 3: Arrived at 7am and put on the sides, soffit and trim, cleaned up the site, loaded their gear and rolled out the drive at 11am (total 4 hours) Amazing is all I can say as I would still be out there laying it out!!! |

Pretty impressive. Now how long for doors, floor and MasterCraft parking?

dang! that was fast on getting that set up & built!!! when you pour the slab, will the wooden underpinning be removed?

The garage doors and slab will likely wait until summer as the winter plow season was good but it wasn't that good! The doors will come first and the interior will remain gravel until fall as I want it to settle.
The wood skirt boards will remain in place as they are making up the difference in exterior to interior grade. These barns are built with 2 rows of tongue and groove 2x8 skirt boards but due to the difference in my grade the front of the building ends up sitting up about 18 inches more than the back. So before I pour a slab I will need to build up the front interior portion as well as the transition to the opening. My long-term plan will be to add the same stone that is on the house foundation and cover the boards......when funds permit. For now we have covered parking for all of the toys and equipment and the MC will be coming home as soon as the weather improves and we start the season. |

May 7 Update: The MC in her new location!
Well, the MC officially came out of her winter storage yesterday and home for a good bath and to get fired up. When all was said and done she got backed into her new home for the first time and despite the lack of a concrete floor or doors...YET....she seems very happy. Truck and boat fit as expected with plenty of room to spare on either end!!!
