Looking for ski spot in Florida panhandle

Hello fellow Team members,
My wife and I are moving to the Florida panhandle soon to be closer to our daughters and one of my requirements is finding some smooth water in or around the Destin area.
I have done most of my skiing, wakeboarding, footing, etc in a river most of my life so I am not a water snob except for the smoothness of it.

Called the guys down at the Cory Pickos ski school and they said the nearest place was Deerpoint Lake in Panama City,FL. We are looking to be closer to Destin, but because I fly each week for work, I need to be near an airport. Would LOVE to have access to a course but I have not spent much time on one.

So I thought I would reach out to my TMC brethren for some help.

I've got an '03 PS 197 with tower and do equal duty slalom, wakeboarding, and floating.

Thanks in advance!

Deerpoint Lake sucks, and it's too far from Destin. It's always rough, over-run by tubers and wake machines, and the gators have developed a taste for people riding on wide boards. I think big waves make them hungry.

I'll send you a PM.

While no where near, Ski Watch Estates is on I-10 near Milton (Pcola). Lots of small lakes around but not many skiable.

i loved my time on Ski Watch - GREAT group of guys there and were nice enough to pull me while I was on vacation in Pensacola 2003.

get the points of contact off their website, and the folks I skied with were: frank harwood, charlie bockwith, george pichel, and maybe ed and phil.

I second the comments regarding Ski Watch Estates. Been skiing there for three years. Great people and a beautiful site. About 20-25 minutes from the Pensacola airport. Check it out.

Coolest thing about ski watch is how clear the water is... It makes it look like you're skiing in 5 inches of water
