351W guys, what does your timing mark post look like?

I've had lingering issues setting my timing. As I got to thinking about it today, my timing indicator post looks extremely suspect. It basically looks like a rusty nail, that comes to a bit of a point. Like this, but mine is in much worse condition.

In looking online, lost of other indicators look like they ride very close to the balancer and have a nice sharp edge... like this. Can this style be adapted to my motor?

My pointer is like yours. Yes there are other type pointers available out there and you can retrofit on to your cover, just have to ensure you adjust the new one properly or when you set timing it will be off.
