Ouachita is a great lake, Mountain Harbor resort has plenty of rentals for all, not sure about ATV, check out Magic Springs to see when they open and all others are correct - I will never put my boat on Hamilton again, too damn crowded and too many idiots!
If you want a bit slower pace, you could check out Heber Springs, an hour above Little Rock but only if into some great trout fishing. Marinas have runabouts, party barges, Lacy's in the narrows has it all plus house boats. We had a friend come up here, stayed 4 days at Red Apple Inn, played some great golf, went out on the lake with us, then they spent the last two days at one of trout resorts on the Little Red River, rented a cabin and got a guided day on the river, then the restaurant at Lindseys cooked their fish that night.

For 12 and 14 old, got to do, Pirate's Cove Adventure Golf. It's a BLAST!

1st thing to do, when you get there. Take a Duck tour(Starts downtown, goes out to and in Lake Hamilton). Usually, there will be a coupon book, with the purchase of tickets(ask before buy the ride ticket). You can get some great deals, on restaurants, attractions, etc.

There some great mom & pop Mexican restaurants, in the area.

The town itself, would be a little boring for kids...neat history, but not everybody's cup of tea.
Go to the pancake cafe, downtown (not waffle shop) can't remember the name, but awesome! Only open till noon. Be prepared to wait in line. Buy some sausage to go.

There a couple of very good mom & pop burger shops downtown.

Every weekend, many car clubs and bike clubs, drive thru town, so that can be fun.

Amusement park is small, but pretty good, horse racing , etc.
Love Hot Springs.

2 extra hours and you could be in Galveston, TX. Lots of affordable rentals there too

Hunting diamonds at Crater of Diamonds State Park is a unique opportunity. Spend a day downtown Hot Springs and maybe schedule a spa in one of the working bathhouses. There is an off road RV park nearby if you have a 4x4. Lots of good hiking in the Ozarks and mountiant bike trails. Little Rock just 45 minute away and might catch a concert and see the Clinton library.

Thanks everyone for all the replies, I was not to sure about this trip. I am looking around on VRBO for houses to rent, I have found several that are lakefront on Hamilton but we will not do much boating but nice to be by the lake.

looks like the diamond digging would be an hour from Hot Springs

I bought my boat in Little Rock but I was only in town for an hour and headed home.

If you have any trouble on the way through let me know, you'll be driving right last me about halfway. I'm in southern mo, west plains to be exact. Might even have a place y'all could crash for a night if ya needed to

Thanks, we normally keep moving. Last year we went 14 hrs with only a few stops on the way. Our longest drive was Florida and it took 24 hrs, I will never do that again.

We drove to Miami to fly out for our honey moon... 24 hrs each way in the wife's car. I hate driving little cars to boot
