19 Skier and HIN
Hello
My name is Patrice, I live in France and I am a new mastercraft model 2001 owner since few days! I have read a lot in the forum before making a choice, thanks for all your support here. I need one specific help as I haven't find any answer on it, here or somewhere else: My boat is described as " Pro Star 19 Skier", and for me it's strange... is it a pro star or a 19 Skier? The HIN number beginning is MBCAY MBC: mastercraft, that's a good start ![]() A: for the 5.7 from GM But what about the "Y" model? Haven't found the reference of the 19 Skier so probably this Y means this, but I would like to be 100% sure. Thanks for your help Cheers |

I apologize if I'm off a year or so, but the 2001 "Skier" is the "Prostar" hull from 1995-1997. In 2001, it was a less expensive (basic ski boat) alternative to the new model "Prostar" which ran until 2013, using the EVO hull.
MC has used "Skier" in the past. My old 1986 MC was a "Skier" model. Not sure if the old Stars and Stripes boats were also called "Skier" as well. I believe the "Prostar" name change first came about with the hull change in 1987. From then on, Prostar was the main 3-event model. In short, regardless of what your boat is called, it's based upon the once premier 3-event hull using the Prostar name. |

Oh, and if you post a few pics of your boat we can tell you what model it is.

Thanks, I'll have a look on this topic

Pat,
I may not have written it as clearly as I was thinking. A 2001 Skier is based upon the hull from the 1995-1997 Prostar. In 2001, it was a "new" boat on the old Prostar hull. The Prostar in 2001 was the new model, EVO hull which was the 3-event hull from 2001-2013. Just throwing out numbers, but in 2001 a new Prostar may have sold for $34,000 or so, while a new Skier was selling for say $26,000. Both new boats, both MCs, but one used the old Prostar hull from 1995-1997 (and they called it the Skier) and one used the new Prostar hull. Hope that helps. |

I own the 2000 sportstar with the 5.7 predator. Most reliable piece of equipment I have ever owned. throw 1100 pound fat sac where the back seat goes and 750 pounds in the bow and it throws a sweet wake. Add another 800 pounds to either side of the engine block and you have a surf machine. Congrats on your purchase.
