I'm an Idiot. Straw in Cylinder

Yeah, you read it right. while i was fogging my engine the red straw from the fogging oil shot into the spark plug hole.

I tried to get it with mechanical fingers, but just couldnt see it. I bought a small 720p borescope to stick in there and try and see where it is, that'll be here next week. also though about rigging up a vacuum with a straw and trying to see if i can suck it out.

Anyone else have any other ideas?

Maybe if you crank the engine by hand, when the piston comes up it will bend the straw and you will have a better chance of getting it with the tongs.

I would try getting it this way, with tweezers or hemostat. Maybe your shop vac idea if you cannot reach it the other ways. Good luck.

Hemostat or long tweezers after turning the cylinder by hand to top dead center? Good luck. If not fire her up;-)

Not the first thread on this... I believe engine guys said not to worry - first couple cycles and it will be gone.. soft plastic will just melt and come out with exhaust gases...IIRC... I would be very frustrated as well.

sounds like something I would do, I would wait for the borescope until I did anything.

Sorry to hear that WillyT, I will buy you a beer to help get over it .... But if you don't get it out I would not worry it won't be in the way for long or cause any ill effects.

Shake it off Bro!

I have had worse things go through my engines without any problem. Recovering the straw isn't worth too much effort. I remember as a kid having a nut and several washers go down the carb and through the engine without any problem. The hardware came from the poor way I mounted a chrome air cleaner on the truck I had.
