Hello From Canada

Hey guys I just wanted to say hello, Im going to pick up my first Ski boat tomorrow.

1987 M/C Prostar 190
454c.i.
Not sure on Ratio, 1:1 or 1:?
Decent condition

However:
-Engine had milky oil for a bit and oil was changed 3 times with same results and then one day the engine wouldn't turn over seller said seized, im assuming Hydro-Locked.

-Missing the back bench as there was a homemade ballast system which is now gone.

-Trans had milky oil but one change cleared it right up.

-Small Chips here and there

-Badly faded platform with one loose bracket

-5"x5" softer spot on the floor (wet fiberglass im assuming)

This all according to the current owner Asking price is $2500CAD with newer M/C Trailer

My list of fixes starts with the Engine, so far through research here this is my list of how to determine whats wrong.

-Inspect Plugs and check for water in cylinders
-Coolant pressure test (15-20psi)
-Riser Gaskets
-Cracked Mani or Riser
-Bad intake Gasket
-Bad head gasket
-Cracked head
-Cracked block

Anyways feel free to give advice and say what you will ill get pics soon.

PS I have never had a inboard before so I know nothing about the differences in a marine engine from a reg car engine.

Thanks in Advance.

Great find for sure. Not a lot of differences between an automotive engine and a marine engine other than brass frost plugs instead of metal. Distributor, alternator & starter are marine specific.

Do you have any engine pictures?

So is that the one that was listed in Regina on Kijiji? Looked like a decent project if its the same one.

Edit- Just looked, its the same one. Nice find, and if your looking for a fiberglass guy in Regina i know a guy who does good work.

Ok so the motor is seized. Tranny is a 1:1.52. I'm just going to pull the motor and send it in to get rebuilt by a professional so I get the maximum amount of useable hours out of it. Anyways I was also going to mention I need a rear bench as mine is missing is there a boat wrecker anywhere where I might be able to get on from??? Just the rear bench and same color pattern if possible.

Hello From Canada

You could make one, likely easy to buy a close color pattern... Wouldn't cost much. But that just in case you don't find one.

Might even be able to get someone here to give you all the measurements.

Nice find, if you clean it up, you likely won't lose a dime.

I'm not concerned about losing any money I got it for 2000 and I intend on using it for the next 10 years or so, so I'm not worried about making or losing money on this project just want a reliable and good ski boat for me and the future family.
