Bad starter on 2002 X-Star

I've got a 2002 X-Star that I bought at the beginning of the year. Sadly, much of the bilge was flooded for quite a while before I bought it. The latest casualty is the starter - I took it apart and the brushes are completely corroded.

I'm finding starters that look like it, but without enough information for me to tell if they are the ones or not, for example:

Also, I'd like to just order the brush set and overhaul it because the gears all look good, it's just the brushes that are messed up. But, there are like 6 different brush sets so I need to know the starter model number and I can't find it anywhere. Does anyone know how to tell the starter part number for my engine? The engine is:

5.7 M/C TBI V-DRI MEFI 4

Being under water isn't going to help that armature. I would consider a new Arco starter.

Well, a new starter is certainly an option, but I still need the part number or some other way to know I'm getting the right one.

Call around to find a good auto electric rebuilder.

My dad has a diesel rebuilder guy who cleaned it up and my dad rebuilt it with new brushes, works great!

The neverending saga is, when we put the starter back in we screwed something up in the electrical, now nothing (gauges, blower, lights) works except for the engine. Everything was working before so obviously we failed to reinstall the starter right. Joy!

Look for a red wire that has a ring terminal on it- if it's on the wrong post, the gauges will only be energized while cranking.

Does anybody have a picture of the wires going on to their starter solenoids? Mine has two big terminals and two small terminals - the bottom big terminal just goes to the starter motor itself, the top big terminal has the big ring from the battery and a smaller ring with two fat wires, one that appears to go to the alternator and one that goes to the 50 amp breaker on the top of the motor. One of the small terminals has a small ring with (presumably) the line from the "start" position on the ignition key.

What I've got currently looks a lot like this:

The only difference is that in this picture, the short wire that goes directly to the starter motor is disconnected (it goes on the bigger terminal that has no wires on it.)

Does your photo show bare wire pinched by the ring terminal and nut?
