Cleaning bay, fuel tanks 2002 xstar

Any tips on what products to use to clean the engine bay and fuel tanks, they are looking dirty and in need of attention. Could I just go to the car wash and spray on the degreaser and wash off? I guess I would need to protect the distributor and injectors/flame suppressor too hey? Other tips?

Totally Awesome Cleaner... spray rinse repeat... just be careful not to over spray the engine or any wires. $1 per bottle..
