new tow rig opinions

So right now I'm driving a 05' denali with 115k. Yukon has been solid to me for 3+ years but have the "newer" bug. Looking at 10'-12's and maybe even a 13 depending on price. Also gas mileage is brutal on the 6.0. I put about 20-30k on my cars yearly and 13mpg overall is a killer especially most of that being highway.

Other note: I only tow the boat 5 miles to the launch and 5 miles with an occasional 100 mile roundtrip 1 or 2x a year so overkill is not needed.

REALLY like the Ram 1500 and being I've had such good luck with my GMC have to throw the silverado in there. Any opinions on both. I've considered an f150 too but the looks leave alil to be desired for me.

Any opinions would be helpful

2009 Denali

I have a 2009 Denali and have had great luck too. I heard the 2014 Denali would be a new body style.

I had a 2009 Chevy 4 door Z71 with the 5.7 liter motor in it and man it pulled the boat like a dream. It was a whole lot better than the Denali. Twice I was on the interstate running 70-80 mph and would forget the boat was behind me. I always know the boat is behind me in the Denali.

Either way the gas mileage stink and so does the rear seats that don't lay down flat. I hope they fix the seats for 2014!

I have a Ford 'cause I won't support Gov't/Obama Motor Company. Tows great, but not much better mileage than what you get despite ecoboost engine. It does drive great and tows like a monster and is a great daily driver. Looks are subjective, I hate all the chrome on the Ram, but as I said it was out anyway.

If anything in bailout motors, I'd look at the new diesel jeep. Older diesel touregs also something to definitely consider.

Dont go dodge or toyota. i get about 16 MPG in my 2011 f150 with the 5.0 V8. Tows like a dream and is far more luxurious than my chevy or dodge. toyota is fugly and the dodge wont hold its value at all! just my opinion.

I have a '09 LTZ Tahoe and it pulls like no other truck/SUV we've had. I only pull the boat in the early spring to the lake and home late fall but it's alot of hills in NW CT and this truck doesn't miss a beat. It is so comfortable and reliable plus it looks sharp. We love it. Good luck with your search. PT

Agree on the value alil bit but they are also much cheaper to begin with. I might take another look at the ford it just seems too boxy to me

Warning: don't drive the Ford ecoboost unless you're ready to buy one. the torque is insane at low rpm.

Unless they are diesel or twin turbo, it doesn't matter the HP, it's all about the low end torque. Even a large V8 just doesn't have the low end torque of a diesel or twin turbo, I was a skeptic till I drove one, but it's addictive to drive up a steep hill at 1400 rpm w/o any problem at all.
