What speed control for 2005 MCX?

What speed controls do you have installed on your 2005 MCX engine?

I'm getting the indication a Zero off will not work with this year motor.

Also wondering if and how the oem one that came with my LTR will work.

I'm pretty sure Zero Off, per an agreement with Perfect Pass, can not sell a system that works with a throttle by wire boat older then 2009. Here is the press release. I could be reading it wrong, but that's what I take away from it.

Is your boat electronic throttle or cable? I believe PP can still sell you a TBW system but it most be an 08 or older boat.

After reading Zero Off's FAQ: https://www.zerogps.com/about-us/faqs

You can surely buy a perfect pass system for your boat.

Perfectpass Stargazer is probably your best bet.

My '05 came with PP Wakeboard pro (paddlewheel) which works fine for us since we mostly wakeboard, plus with a bit of river current it's more accurate than Stargazer on our river.

Thanks Guys, I am trying to wring out all the details of putting a 2005 MCX engine in my 2002 209.

My boat currently has the PP Pro that came with the boat. I am trying to figure out what it will cost to get speed control in the boat, and determine if I should buy a new Zero off which I don't think I need because I'll never need it for course skiing, I just want to have it for wakeboarding.

I am under the impression that eControls will not write a firmware for the older ECMs. If I was going to put PP in a boat with TBW I would go with a stargazer.

There is a certain dead zone which occured between the appearance of DBW/TBW boats and the agreement between Zero Off and PP.

I'm not sure of all the specifics, but there are some ECM's out there that PP made a speed control for ( your boat sounds like one) for which the Zero Off does not work.

This niche of boats disappeared, as all current boats are ZO compatible (talking ski boats). And PP is no longer making DBW for current boats.

If you already have PP I believe PP will condinue to service your speed control.

I talked with the PerfectPass people the other day about river current. I guess there is way to use GPS on the lakes and paddle wheel on the river. It may be worth looking into if you spend time on moving or still water.
