raised foam Decals, 2007 model decal
I want to have my tansom and stern side section re-painted because my transom has some terrible oxidation and clear coat failure. But if i have it re painted i need to replace my Large Yellow X-15 decals. they are raised foam decals. Any one know where i could get them?

Are you sure it is paint? It should be colored gelcoat (colored resin). No clear coat either. As noted, this can be wet sanded and polished to look new..........

I attached two other pictures to really show what im talking about.
I never tried wetsanding or clay bar. A friend of mine works at a detail shop and told me it is beyond the help of a clay bar or any kind of buffing. i have tried all kinds of waxes buffing it on, it shines up but within an hour it fades back to what you see in the pictures. old stickers were removed on the transom and that is where you see the small area that is still nice looking. take a look at the pictures, if you have experience with wet sanding and believe it could help then i will look into having some one try that for me, (i dont have any experience with wetsanindg so i dont want to mess it up more than it alredy is.) any ideas would be helpful, or if anyone knows where i could find these raised decals. |

Wow! That came out great! Thank you for the advice and I will happily stay away from the re-painting idea.

A good boat/glass repair shop that does wet sanding should be able to make it look new again.
I had my 2007 done 2 years ago.......no before picture, but heres an after picture.

Some before and afters from my boat last fall, I just used an electric buffer with 3m rubbing compound followed by a polish and wax to bring it back. Don't paint, you can get that fading out!
