Prostar 190 classic hull 95-97

I recently purchased, Oct 2012, a 96 prostar 190 and would love to see other 190's of this same hull and design. I've seen the prostar thread, but would like to get hull specific. No holds bared on this thread, let's get down and dirty! Don't hold back! I want photos, complete descriptions, upgrades, experiences, stories, tower or not to tower, engines, hot babes, kids, etc.... Tell us what you love about this boat, what you didn't like, how much you wished you still had it.

I'm well aware of the famed 91-94 hull, I have first hand experience, owned a 91 prostar for 5 years. I sold my 91 prostar 190 to move up a few years to the 96. Although I loved the 91 and will miss her, I wanted to get a newer model and have always loved the 95-97 hull and design. I've only had the 96 out one time for about an hour on the purchase text drive. As you can imagine I'm dying to get her out and feel the ride.

I've read the prostar history thread.

I'm mostly excited about the electronic fuel injection, but also looked forward to the claimed improved ride in rough water, more interior room, improved tracking, and reduced spray. Please share your experiences in the 95-97 prostar 190.

To boxed to go into detail but this vintage will replace the famed 91-94 hull, it will just take a little more time. This boat did it all a slalom tug was supposed to do, great wake, great tracking, great looks, and minimum shortline spray. It's a shame we only had it three years.

Absolutely LOVE my 96. Bought it 2 years ago, it came with a tower that I'm not wild about, (I think it ruins the lines of a very sleek boat) but the kids like to wakeboard, so I'll be adding a fat sac and pump this summer. The LT1 is super strong out of the hole even with the 1:1 and the top end is around 50 mph, and the ski wake is awesome. We had a J-Craft outboard before this, and that was a sweet, very tiny wake so when my wife saw this she thought the wake was much bigger, but when she skied behind it she couldn't believe how soft it was.

96 MC Prostar 190... Needs a tower... badly!

Love mine, bought it because a friend had the same boat new and we spent many early mornings on glass skiing behind it - so I was hooked. Unfortunately many 95 and 96's have age lines, even when taken care of, so some refurb is probably in your future (but it's actually very rewarding if you like jumping right in there to facelift your best girl).
There are certainly many threads to help with that - here's mine, if anything helps down the road, then I feel I successfully paid it forward!

I have a '95 Prostar with the TBI engine. It has been a very good slalom boat for me skiing between 22 and 32 off at 34mph. It tracks well, handles chop, and is very dependable.

I installed a winged rudder from a later model Prostar. This helped provide some lift to the stern which reduced the rooster tail and flattened the wake a bit. It rides best with a crew weight of 490 to 550 lbs. Any lighter and the bow rides too far out of the water. Any heavier and it plows through the water.

Overall it is a great boat. There are better slalom wakes from the '94 but the spray can be a real hazard in a light breeze at shorter line lengths. If I could choose I would go with the '94 if I could find one with EFI or repower it with a modern MPFI engine.

As a family boat you always have the debate of open vs closed bow. The Prostar 205s of the same years have just about as good of slalom wake but an open bow.
