The 205v (and original X-star, X-2, X-1) derivatives THREAD

The SS, Prostar, new X-2, etc. etc. owners have their threads. How about a thread for the 205v configuration, along with it's derivatives -- 205 VRS, the original X-Star, the original X-2, and the now-discontinued X-1.

One of the most popular and longest-lived configurations conceived by MasterCraft, the second generation 205 hull was introduced in 1996, with the V-drive appearing in 1999 and lasting until 2011. The history of this hull is well-documented at http://press.mastercraft.com/teamtal...6-2000+prostar and other TT threads have commented on its demise.


So, in honor of this great boat, let's see your rides, your mods, you and the family in/on/behind it, whatever.

To begin ...

Here's our '05 X-2 which we purchased locally last fall. It has 460 hrs and the MCX engine. Options include heater, shower, tower speakers and lights, bimini. Mods include PPass and an Acme 1285 prop.

Spring plans include adding a Bennett wakeplate which I purchased last fall, adding ski rack extensions, and removing the frozen tower knobs so that I can collapse the tower. Eventually I would like to replace the rear ballast hard tanks with larger bags and also install a bow V-bag.

My '99 205v. The off-season projects: convert the 1 piece sun deck to 3 piece (underway, deck is at Viper being re-upholstered), upgrade tower speakers to a set of Kicker KM6500.2s (waiting on the 2nd pair of speaker cans to come in), bought a tower mounted rearview mirror to replace the windshield mounted one, and I'm ordering a bimini soon: http://www.bigairwaketowers.com/bimini/bigairbimini/

2003 X-2 with the predator engine. It has wetsounds rev10s, exile sx-65m's, solo baric L7 15, 750s in the back lockers, ski locker bag, 1100lb open bow triangle, OJ 14.5x14.25 prop, 2004 board racks, dedicated thru hull for each pump, ptm edge mirror, and 3 batteries. Just buffed and polished it and currently have all the decals pulled. Hopefully installing new ones next weekend.

I've been thinking about doing the same on mine (post #1 above.) Was there any fading on the gelcoat when you pulled off the big oval? I wonder how the black/red would look on my red hull? Post a pic of yours when you're done.

There wasn't much fading on the sides at all. You could tell where the decals had been if you looked closely, but a buff and polish took care of it.

I had some oxidation on the transom, and you could really see where the stickers were. After wet sanding, buffing, and polishing you can't see anything on the transom. Here are a couple of before an after pics of the transom. I will post pics as soon as I get the decals installed. It's supposed to rain here tomorrow, so Friday will be my next chance to get them on.

That really buffed out beautifully. Black is so unforgiving!
