Name this 190 engine
Going to buy my first Mastercraft in a few weeks, and would like another opinion on the powerplant. I know only what the owner tells me, so if you could, please lend a second or third opinion which engine I am about to purchase. Boat is a 91 Prostar 190.

Looks like an Indmar chev 350 to me, but I'm a Ford guy. Welcome to Team Talk. Good luck on the purchase.

454 fer sure. (AFAIK, Indmar never marinized the 427.) 375hp as I recall.
Nice find. Pics, pics, and more pics!

Very good condition indeed. 500 hours -- just barely broken in! That's an average of 25 hrs per year.

I dug out my old 91 TriStar manual. (Should have done that first!) Specs for the 454 are given as 390/425 hp.

Thanks for the quick replies. That is what the owner told me, but after doing so much reading on here it seems to be quite rare for a 91 to have the 454. Just making sure I wasnt getting taken for a ride by buying an unfamiliar product sight-unseen.
Should be plenty of grunt to pop my skinny 155lb *** out of the water on my ski. Thanks |
