Guys with aftermarket valve covers...

...how'd you deal with the fact that the oil filler breather hose is 5/8" but the nipple of the valve cover breather is 1/2". The result is too much slack to be taken up by a hose clamp.

I was expecting a direct fit when I bought these valve covers. What am I missing?

These are the Ford Racing cast covers by the way.

Not sure if you can find a hose 1/2" on one end and 5/8" on the other, but try a 1/2" hose and heat the one end with a heat gun to slide it over the 5/8" breather.

Or take a 5/8" drill bit and drill one end bigger if the 1/2" hose is thick enough.

Well, I no longer feel like the only idiot that thought of that and found out how quickly it doesn't work.

You need something like this here. They come in alomst any combo you can think of. You can get a 5/8" to 1/2" reducer pretty easy.

+1 on this with a bit of extra hose... or increase the nipple size with silicone repair tape.

Just change out the breather cheap $6 and easy...Mr. gasket makes a one with a larger 5/8" nipple, I ran through the same thing with the ford racing version breather that came with my valve covers from ford last year...
