New Zero Flex Tower on Prostar 197?
I am just wondering if MasterCraft intends to offer the new ZFT-4 with the Prostar 197. Anyone know anything about this?
I would be very interested in adding it to my boat. I would love a tower but I need one that can be easily folded. Our friends over at Ski Nautique developed a nice "hinged" tower for the SN 200 Sport that reminds me of the ZFT-4. |

From the press release.
The ZFT 4 is now available for any new 2012 MasterCraft Boat orders.

The zft-4 is on the design a boat application, but not showing on the prostars. Not sure if that means its not available or if they just haven't updated the prostar section???

I have to be honest, I can't see that tower looking proper on a 197/190. It barely looks like it fits on a 214DD. I would get the New Dimensions tower or the mini tower if still available.

Exactly my thoughts!! Anything more than the new style Mini tower is too much for the 190/197.

I would think that the base of the ZFT4 tower would be too far back on a 197 hull, causing interference with the rope. It may be a moot point unless you are skiing deep into short line lengths, though.
Plus, I think weight might be a factor. It looks like that tower is going to be noticeably heavier than the old style towers. It is not such a factor on a bigger boat such as a X2, X25, etc., but on a light 197, it might have a negative effect.

Just wondering if that tower is offered on the X7? Am I right that the X7 is a 197 with ballast and a tower? If so then the ZFT4 should fit.

That's what I was thinking.
Quote:
I would absolutely want to see what it looks like on a 197 before I would ever put down cash on that bad boy. The comments about weight, balance, and shortline slalom issues are all good things to consider. Did I hear right about the tower costing $2k. That can't be right, I thought their other towers cost far more than that. |
