Another X-Star prop?

Sorry for another prop thread but I have not found anything regarding high altitude. I have a 2007 X-star with the MCX engine. When running 2,500 lbs ballast with 5-6 people I have a really tough time getting on a plane. Any suggestions?

What prop are you using at what altitude???

typically at 3,000 feet. It is the stock 2007 prop so I am not sure. I will look this evening and post it.

Be prepared to give him any info he may need like, altitude you use the boat at, current prop info off the hub, baseline numbers of the speeds and RPM's for the current prop, boat model and year, engine size, transmission ratio, function (skiing, barefooting, surfing, boarding, tubing, etc.), ballast use, fuel load, gear, nominal # of passengers, etc. He will need it to determine the best prop for your application.

Jason, my '05 X-star MCX is basically the same boat.
I did run the OJ 14.25 X 14.5 prop.....really good holeshot but lost some top speed and would hit the rev-limiter pretty easy.
I now run the OJ 14.75 X 15.5 and I really like it better. We run about the same ballast as you and 5-6 people in the boat.

Take into account that I'm at sea level, so as stated above talk to Eric @ OJ for some advise. High altitudes will make that MCX work pretty hard I believe, so maybe in your case the 14.25 X 14.5 might be best.

I currently do have the OJ 14.25 x 14.50 1.20 cup prop and the hole shot at this altitude is super slow when weighted
