HELP I need quick comments on 1997 PS205

I looked at a 1997 PS 205 today and put down a refundable deposit until tomorrow at 10 AM.
My current boat is a 1986 PS 351w velvet 1:1

Questions
1. What years was thathull produced?.
2. The motor is the 5.7 EFI what tranny did it come with( I thought it said Hurth on the tag but the lighting was bad and the owner had no clue what a tranny was.
3.There was no hour meter on the boat, Is that common? Where I tohught the hour meter would go there was a clock.
4. The mechanic is coming out tommorow AM to install a new battery and he said he could verify the hours with the engine code reader. I have only delt with old school 351's Is this true.

1. That generation of 205 was produced as a direct drive from 1996--2000. It is still produced as the X1 v-drive.

2. ZF Hurth 1:1. The powerslot 1.52:1 was an option.

3. Should be on the tach.

4. Yes, on a chevy, you can read the actual hours from the engine.

I think East Tc Skier answered your queries, but the lack of an hour meter is a bit weird. Shoud be on the tach as E.T.S. mentioned.

I bought my '97 PS 205 new and I have been extremely pleased with it. I have skied behind a lot of boats (older and newer) and found that this boat does it all pretty well. To include, slalom, barefoot, and wakeboarding. In other words, I haven't upgraded yet. Not sure what your inteded use is, but I will say that in my opinion, this is a great all around boat.

Thanks, I went back this morning and it was on the tach like you said. I brought my glasses this time. I am going to pick it up Thursday.

Not many hours there on that '98, coz. With the great weather you have in Arizona you need to spend more time skiing and less time taking pics so you can get that thing broke in!

I bought it in 06 with 66 hrs. as you can see by the pics it's used

That pic was taken this morning for this thread so that's what she has as she sits

We'll be putting on a couple more this weekend
