Team Talk Moderator Teleconference

Earlier this week, we held a teleconference with our Moderators and a dealer to discuss current issues and opportunities within Team Talk. I wanted to post the results of our call so everyone is informed about what was discussed and to understand what will happen going forward:

First on the agenda was the spam issue. As you all may know, Team Talk was migrated earlier this year to the mastercraft.com site and server. As a result, it has become a popular target for spam houses and spammers. We have deployed a variety of techniques to stop the spam threats. Last week, we implemented "re-Captcha" registration tool that we believe is now successful in stopping new spam registrants. In addition, we recently completed a banning effort to rid those spammers that have already made it into Team Talk. Today, I believe that we are essentially spam free. If this does not hold, the next option is to have our Moderators allow or moderate new registrant entry.

We also discussed organizing the forum and creating relevant main topics according to high-post type threads - like creating "Help" threads. There are new users that come into the forum and ask a question (that is new to them), but has been already answered numerous times in the past. Essentially, we agreed to a "one stop shopping" place for all major FAQs, Q&A, etc. It was agreed by all that the current search is obsolete and needs to be modified.

In addition, we also discussed a "Welcome" notice or announcement. A well placed communication for new users that gives them a hearty welcome to our MC family, as well as gives points on how to navigate, post and where to find good help information.

Further, we all talked about cleaning up the forum...making it cleaner and tighter with permanent deletions of irrelevant historical and obsolete threads, ads, etc.

Finally, we had discussions about VBulletin backend access by the Moderators - to enable them to do their jobs more efficiently and effectively.

All in all, this first call was successful. We had good participation and everyone had a voice. We will continue these teleconference calls on a monthly basis going forward.
