2002 Predator Impeller Housing

I own a 2002 Pro Star 190 and the impeller housing is not perfectly round to say the least. The right side is flat and the impeller drags. I have had overheating problems ever since I bought the boat but it is used so rarley this is the first time I checked the impeller

Should the housing be a perfect circle?

No it shouldn't be perfectly round. Pictures would help to make sure I am thinking what you are, but this is how it is designed.

When did you buy the boat and what has been done to try to fix the problem? If the impeller has been changed without changing the gasket, that can cause the raw water pump to suck air, which doesn't work as a coolant very well.

The flat part is what creates the suction for the pump to work properly. If your boat is overheating, there are many possible causes. Start by checking the intake side of the transmission cooler for obstruction. Replace the impeller (johnson 612 probably), and check your thermostat.

No, the eccentricity of the housing is what makes it work.

Impella

Isn't an Impella an animal that roams the African plains? No I guess that is an Impala. So what is an Impella? Is that ebonics for impeller?
