Trailer Wheel Came Off - Help!

I got the boat home after an outing today and didn't even get it in the driveway before noticing that the wheel hub and bearings totally disintegrated. We heard the noise and stopped before the wheel actually fell off.

I need some help figuring out what needs to be replaced and how. I will post some pictures if that will help.

Thanks!

Is this part something I have to replace? If so, how does it come off?

Man! your lucky it happened in the driveway or close to that nut should remove the whole hub if I'm correct and you'll need a new spindle.

It appears the front bearing totally disentigrated and the hub came off the spindle, The nut, cotter pin are still on the spindle and the washer that's normally against the bearing wore away, allowing the hub to come off with no bearing behind it.
Lucky, isn't the word for it! That wheel bearing has been wearing away for a long time, that doesn't happen over a couple trips to the lake.

Things like that happen when no wheel bearing grease is in there and it becomes metal to metal contact! When was the last time the wheel bearings were serviced?
Probably new bearings, rear seal, hub races and whatever it takes to put it back together properly. You may want to take the hub and pictures of the spindle to a local trailer shop to be sure everything that needs replacing is replaced, it may even require taking the axle out for someone to repair it all. The splinal may be cleaned up, if not, a new axle may be in order and even a new hub, depending on the damage. The other side also needs to be inspected it that side is that bad!
You apparently have a trailer boaters worst nightmare there!

Same thing happened to me but I had 20 miles to go. Some how I made it the entire distance with spindle riding on the bottom of the hub section and the axle nut keeping the hub from coming off the spindle. Any way had the replace everything on that side. If you are not an avid welder I would take it to some one. The main componets to replacing the spindle are to remove the old one with a die grinder while preserving the cradle it sits in. Placing the new one with lots of plumb lines and measuring. An finally welding the new one in place. If the spindle is ok than the bearing replacement is pretty simple.
