What a local prop specialist told me today was that lowering rpms is generally spoken not a good idea since every engine has its optimal range of rpms. For the LY6 they write it is between 5200 and 5600 max. So by putting on another prop might cause your engine not running in the optimal range and therefore run under overload even at low rpms. However by having my engine running at 5200 rpms (top speed scenarios) I don't feel too comfortable.
I like how much focus you two have on my long sentence. Difference between the two is the cup .105 vs .150. The 1285 does better at elevation. 1479 can be turned into a 1285 by any good prop shop for around $150. So get the 1479 and if you need more rpm or speed have it turned into a 1285. The OJ 522 14.75x15.5 is not even in the same range prop wise. Size is similar but pitch is a inch more and cup of .110. Unless you have 8.1 I would not run 15 inch pitch prop nothing has enough torque for it unless you are at sea level.
