Get your dvom out and see what voltage you have on the red/ purple wires.

In your case the RED wire same as choke goes on one side terminal but you need some sort of 12v input to resistor, and the Purple wire on the other terminal that goes to the positive coil.

I assume you have a PCM

PCM diagram (similar but you get the idea)
