I replaced the points (set at .018) and condensor and it fired right up.

When I used to run with points (before converting ignitions to electronic) I carried a piece of sandpaper with me for roughing up the glazed contacts when nothing else was available.....Used the wife's fingernail file a time or two.....
Convert when you can... good money spent....
