Sorry CC2MC - I did it a 2 seasons ago. I also had to clip the spring to size. I took the remaining bits of spring to the store and rummaged thru the spring boxes till I found something I believed was the right diameter and strength.

I also was able to repair my boat buddy in the same manner..
