So I sanded all the varnish off the 190 platform this weekend and decided that in order for me to get this done correctly and up to my standards, the whole platform had to come apart
to really get in all the tight areas, etc.
So all the varnish is gone and the platform is ready to be put back together and sanded down overall with 220 grit paper. I will see how smooth the 220 gets me and then either go higher grit or start the oil process.
I shop-vac'd the platform and used the air compressor to get all the dust off the platform and wiped it down with a damp cloth. So the platform is about as clean as it is going to get.
So here is my dilemna...
Do I go straight to the teak oil application or is there a need to get the 3 step kit...1-Cleaner, 2-Brightener and then 3-Oil? Seems like steps 1 and 2 for me are really not necessary
Do I still need to wash the platform down with a mild dish soap and steel wool ? ...any thoughts on my next steps???
