We were very lucky. My wife was 5 months pregnant at the time. I was up late the night before and wanted to catch a quick nap on a 12hr ride we had that day so I let her drive. I got too confident in my diesel truck and figured she could keep it between the lines with the cruise control set at 75mph, but unfortunately she didn't know to turn the cruise control off when it started raining and after a semi-truck cut her off she started hydro-planing, slammed off the left guard rail, got sideways, jack-knifed, and went off the right side of the road, down an embankment, ejecting the boat from the trailer. I woke up when we started slamming into the left guard rail, but there wasn't much I could do from the passenger seat at that point.
We are definitely very thankful to have walked away from that and I hold myself 100% accountable for having too much confidence in my diesel truck and it was a learning experience I hope no one else ever has to experience first hand.
