I was about to say, my SG uses GPS. I throttle it up by hand, it locks and takes over.. No paddle wheel.

It also has a million settings to perfect my pull, it allows me to adjust the weight of people in the boat, weight of skier, what line length, etc. I'm no tournament skier but I have friends who are and it runs the course just fine. No complaints yet.

Also, pulling without cruise control is fine. The prop setup on these boats keeps it from deviating to much when the skier is pulling. Takes little time at all to get comfortable driving that way. Its how I learned back in the day.
