I have a set of short lines to tie up for short periods at a marina or the ramp area.
I then have a set of long lines (25ft x 4) that I use during our annual vacation week where we have a slip. I use the spring line method of securing the boat this way it does not rub against the dock since it will be there for a long period of time and the no-wake zone is not always that well observed. Hence the need for the long lines.
I like having the short lines as well because they are easier to handle (less knots) for the typical usage.
