Anyway, to answer you question, I'm not sure why the floor was raised at the stern. Perhaps to create clearance for the tiller? Or maybe something to do with the integral swim platform. I don't know. In any case I'd be wary of cutting it out and leveling it as it might seriously affect the structural integrity of the hull.
