It wouldn't take a lot of exposure to saltwater to make the engine look like this. I suspect you will have to go the full engine rebuild route, but sounds like you need to pull that engine and let the professionals do their thing. Saltwater exposure to the electrical components may be your largest hurdle. Good luck.
