If you have a two channel amplifier driving a pair of 4-ohm speakers there is only one way to wire that stereo with one speaker per each channel for a net 4-ohm load. You can bridge the amp and series the speakers with the same result. You CANNOT bridge the amp and parallel the speakers. So while the speakers will be seriously under-powered as compared to their potential for now, don't over-think it as there is no safe way around it.
