I was just wondering if the riser doesn't have a water port on the back side? If that were the case, you would have to flip the gasket around. I've got some old water stains on my Indmar so I thought I would replace my gaskets.
I positioned my gasket as directed, however while I was messing with it, I was asking myself the same question, why a specific direction?

I don't know but I will call and find out tomorrow if I get a spare moment.
