I know, it doesn't even come close to snowing here at the beach. But we have some pretty good mountains in So CA. We go to Big Bear and Mammoth Mtn enough to where 4wd is worth it. You are required to put chains on a 2wd when I don't really think it's necessary.
More importantly, the boat ramp I use is super slick when the tide is down. Way worse than any lake I've been to.
