Unnecessary. The only reason to take a battery inside is to keep a discharged battery from freezing. A charged battery won't freeze until about -60. Keep it on a float charger like Battery Tender and there's no need to do anything else. Likewise, disconnecting the battery is unnecessary since the only reason to do so us to stop parasitic drain, which is irrelevant if it's on a float charger. It's worked for me for much longer than 9 years.
