Depends on how aggressive a skier you are . They are two very different skis . The s2 is a course ski with lifting strakes in the bottom designed to help loosen the skis grip on the water and give it a lighter feel as you change edges . The a3 is a ski that needs to be skied aggressively in order to gain benefit from its design . I agree with lake life in that if you are not at the point where you are skiing short rope lengths the s2 is probably a better choice for you . Someone else on here may be able to better explain ski design theory than I am . I skied with a gentleman last year that skied the s2 into 35 off at 34 no problem but was having trouble with 28/34 on the a3 as he did not believe he had fully adjusted to the new design yet.
