The lift has weathered several winters with several inches of ice on the lake (even in Georgia!) with no problems.

Homer, you need to rig up a homemade lathe and get that thing turning while you clean it up.
Use a 120 grit or finer flap disk instead of a grinding wheel and you will have much better results....
