The bow hatch had me convinced 24'. A 21' means my comments about engine, wake etc. are all nonissues. I still wouldn't try cutting it up if you're not 100% sure. Good looking boat.

Keep in mind that people and ballast will cause you to ride deeper. When you hit the throttle to take off the stern will also sink in a bit. The draft is not same as the actual safe running depth...

Not direct experience with a 197, but ballast in that locker usually leads to damage on other boats in my experience. Bags next to the dog house will also handle better than being way stern heavy.
