The switch itself is a basic piece of electronics that you should be able to access many places. Carefully pop off the illuminated cover and just pop in onto the new switch.

- turned it so it faced the stern (there is a mounting nut on the backside of vent up under the helm)
- stuffed a small bit of shop towel into the vent, but still with enough room...

I wouldn't mount it permanently because the hose is too short to reach over the back/front/sides of the boat, depending on where the inflatable is.
