Check out post #33 and #36 in this thread, those are my boat with lights piggy backing rub rail, they aren't bad but I'm still going to cut out rub rail when I get the boat out of storage....

Thanks! I was essentially doing the same thing you were, tapping into the same wire - play around with it for a while until I realized there was something in the factory wiring, connection is broken...
