I have a coated line and tie a loop all the time. It took about a whole season before the coating started to break down. It is just cosmetic, the actual rope is just fine.

Don't get too excited about getting the one adjusted. After a couple of more outings it will be off again. I had all three of my adjusted perfect, none of them stayed that way.
