FWIW, I've got dual batteries directly under the right corner of the bench seat and a 1000 lb sack in the locker. It fits fine.

Just to follow up. The balancer pulley does have a separate bolt holding it to the balancer, so I did not have to remove the belt.

I did anyway and ended up just replacing it.

There isn't a tensioner. The alternator bracket has a fore and aft bolt and slides to tension the belt, just like an older non-serpentine setup. I was expecting there to be one.
