I would expect the raw water pump to be pulling in air from the dripless and have a problem priming from the bucket.

Thanks for clearing it up. I don't think any MasterCrafts had a plastic stuffing box from the factory. You might be able to find a used one from someone who upgraded to dripless.

When you dump the throttle, your vacuum drops. Maybe your MAP (manifold air pressure) sensor is having trouble in the low pressure range. (I know nothing about your particular engine)
