Remove the ballast resistor, then put a ring terminal on the end of the purple wire that was connected to the ballast resistor.

Attach that purple wire you just removed from the ballast resistor...

Its not really that bad, just one little tear beside one of the screws that secures the RH switch panel.
I hate to spend $469 for that. I'd love to find some similar material...

Pulling the tranny isn't bad at all on these boats. I just did mine a couple of weeks ago with a bottle jack.

I just removed the four 3/8" transmission crossmember bolts and jacked up the engine...

It's probably 10 BTDC, but if you're having this much trouble keeping it from stalling, the timing isn't whats causing your issue.
Sounds like a carburetor/fuel related...

You can check for vacuum leaks without pulling it off.

You could actually induce a leak by removing and reinstalling it.
